PBS Ready To Learn was launched in 1994 and represents public television's response to the National Education goal to ensure that "No Child is Left Behind" especially when it comes to preparing preschool children for formal schooling. One of the goals of Ready To Learn is to teach parents, teachers and childcare providers that early literacy skills can be developed at a very young age and can be taught at home and in child care settings. PBS Ready To Learn has developed a model called the VIEW, READ and DO Model of Learning where children can learn a concept by viewing a pre-selected clip of a television program and combine that experience with reading a related book and participating in a hands-on activity. |

Don't miss Share A Story Theme Week, September 15 - 19 The PBS KIDS Share a Story campaign was developed to heighten awareness about a young child's ability to learn pre-literacy concepts by storytelling and how to practice these skills at home, in child care settings or anywhere children and adults learn together. Sharing a story with children does more than you think to help kids learn how to read! Take a look at how storytelling inspires all kids to love reading what ever the age:
PBS stations around the country are encouraging everyone to read aloud storybooks to children. For new members to MPT, we'll include PBS Share a Story Booklets in your new member packet. Look for PBS "Share A Story" materials in all Ready To Learn and Ready To Grow Workshops. Take time out to "Share a Story" and the love of reading! You'll be glad you did!
