Sharing a story
- Read slowly, so your child has time to absorb the words and images.
- Read with feeling-use the tone of your voice to convey the characters' emotions and the mood or events of the story.
- Stop from time to time to discuss what has happened and how your child feels about it.
- Ask things like: What do you think will happen next? How do you think the story will end?
- Look at the pictures together and talk about what they show.
- Let your child ask questions, and take the time to answer them.
