Nicky and Steve get roped into taking part in a charity dining event organised by their insufferable neighbours Matt and Meena. The couple's efforts come in for some robust criticism so when Matt and Meena play host the gloves are off.

Nicky's daughter Zoe comes to stay after breaking up with her boyfriend and takes a shine to Bronson. Steve is chosen to play a key role in The Lantern Man Festival, a village tradition whose origins have been lost in the mists of time.

Steve and Nicky's children can't come for Christmas this year so they decide to give it a miss. They invite Meena, Matt, Alice and Ken for Christmas eve drinks. They all get drunk and snowed in and have to stay the night. Grizzo comes to the rescue the next day with food, presents and a glitter cannon, which he later regrets bringing.

What’s not to love about the countryside? Fresh air, fresh eggs, fresh start. But lifelong townies Steve and Nicky soon realize they have made a seriously bad move. Their new house is in an internet black hole, the locals loathe them, and Steve’s web design business is looking pretty hopeless without the web. Soon they are fantasizing about life back in Leeds, where they had great friends, successful careers, and excellent takeaway food. Here, the quiet of the countryside is drowned out by blaring music, beeping scooters, and occasional gunfire.
