On October 22, 2024 in honor of National Estate Planning Awareness Week, MPT conducted an estate planning webinar featuring Shari Fleming. The webinar focused on the importance of estate planning and the tools necessary to get started.
Continuing this important conversation, we are thrilled to invite you on Wednesday, April 2 at 6:00pm as we take a deeper dive into the world of estate planning by focusing on when to get started no matter the age of the individual. Join Shari along with Malika Moore of Aging & Amazing for a discussion on the importance of preparing for the future no matter your age. Topics include identifying and solidifying an agent for each estate planning document, providing advanced direction in decision making, providing examples of agent selections, and helping to identify supportive figures in your life to aid the process.
Meet Your Presenters
Shari Fleming, Esq., AEP®, CAP® received a Bachelor of Science in History, a Bachelor of Science in Black Studies, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lincoln University, Pennsylvania. After graduation, she attended the University of Maryland School of Law, received a Degree of Juris Doctor, and was admitted to the Maryland State Bar in 2008. She is commissioned as a Notary Public in the State of Maryland, is licensed as an Associate Real Estate Broker and Title Producer in the State of Maryland, and has been trained as a court designated mediator of civil disputes.
Additionally, Shari serves as an adjunct professor, and has taught community college to graduate level law courses. Currently, she teaches at the University of Maryland Global Campus, Howard Community College, and teaches real estate continuing education courses. Through higher education, she also serves as a Business Coach.
In 2020, Shari founded the Our Legacy Matters community with the purpose of advancing the concepts of ownership, wealth maintenance, and wealth retention within communities of color. Malika Moore, MSW, LICSW, LCSW-C, is an Aging Life CareProfessional™ and also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the District of Columbia and Maryland. Ms. Moore founded Aging & Amazing®, a company that strives to support older adults, caregivers, and the networks that surround them. Her niche and life mission are ensuring care and interaction with older adults is more than a checkbox.
Ms. Moore has over a decade of experience as a professional, clinician, public speaker, and business owner and has a genuine passion for older adults and caregivers. Her work in behavioral health, community education, and healthcare have prepared her for her current venture of serving the aging population, family caregivers, and professionals who specialize in aging. Malika has served in several different capacities in her professional career, including consultant, clinician, geriatric care manager, medical social worker, psychotherapist, support group facilitator, and adjunct professor. She thrives best in exploring innovative and creative ways to serve basking in continued learning.
Malika is a leader who enjoys uplifting and inspiring others. Ms. Moore was recognized and awarded the 2022 Aging Life Care Association "Rising Star" award. Malika holds dearly and values her family and friends and is personally invested in ensuring we all know that it is possible to live and be Aging & Amazing®!
